Bicycle Tour3

Tori-shin (鳥新)

We had a lunch at Tori-shin its located between Sanjo and Shijo near Yasaka Shrine.

The menu is only "Oyako-don"
it is Japanese rice bowl dish.
Chicken, egg, sliced scallion, and other ingredients are all simmered together in a sauce and then served on top of a large bowl of rice.

Yasaka-Shrine
West tower gate as the picture looks to be the front of Yasaka Shrine but in fact, it is not a front gate here.
The front gate rounds in front of the front shrine and "is straight the south tower gate" in the place toward the south.

In fact, main shrines of Yasaka Shrine usually deliver "a main shrine" and "a front shrine" of the outbuildings in a unique form called "Gion-tukuri" under one roof.
Therefore the architecture that a worshiper gives prayer to "front shrine" and "main shrine" at the same time.

Bicycle Tour2 2013

Bicycle Tour2

Nanzenji Temple
From Heian Shrine to Nanzenji Temple it takes 15 minuites by bycicle.
Nanzenji Temple is very beautiful and little bit cool compares the central area of town in summer because its located on the mountain  also in the fall  there are red leaves on trees, you must see it. You can include Eikando Temple to your trip it is nearby Nanzenji Temple.

Suirokaku

It is one of the famous spot in Nnazenji Temple, most people visit for Suirokaku.

Suirokaku made of brics, cultural assimilation between Japanese and Western that makes little bit strange but beutiful.

Suirokaku made in 1888 for carry water from Biwako lake in Shiga to Kyoto.

Chion-in Temple

One of the biggest gate called Sanmon in Japan it is national tresure and made of wodden height 24 meters, width 50 meters and depth 12 meters.

Sanmon has 3 means "do not deeply attach to things"; "do not discriminate with an appearance"; "do not demand it on greed"

Otoko-Zaka (Men's slope)

That you climb the stone stairway called "Men's slope" for the stone stairway that an incline is hard, the person that heart and a knee is weak, I do not recommend to climb up and down.
There is "Women's slope" into the right hand of Men's slope, it is a loose slope compare with the other one.

Bicycle Tour 2013

Bicycle Tour around the central of Kyoto

Recentry, hydrangea sparsely blooming these days, it is the rainy season in Japan,

I went sightseeing around the central of Kyoto starting from NISHIYAMA RYOKAN.

At first I've been to Simo-Goryou shrine that takes 3 minutes
by bicycle from NISHIYAMA RYOKAN.
This shrine enshrines the worst vengeful spirits in Kyoto.
The atmosphere was prety gloomy.

The next!

Pass Kamo river on my way, I went to Heian shrine it took 15 minutes From Simo-Goryou shrine.

 Tinowa Kuguri

is a traditional seasonal ceremony (from the end of June to July) wishing to be in good health by passing through the big circle made of tall grass (thatch). If you pass through like 8-shaped loop this circle three times, you will be free from illness and overcome the heat of summer.

O-mikuji

These white things are O-mikuji (fortune slip) You can draw a fortune slip and if bad things ritten it,
don't worry! Don't take it home,Tie O-mikuji like this picture.
It prevents bring bad things with you.
On the other hand, if a fortune slip is ritten good things, you can take it home.

Good luck with you!

Torii
Infront of Heian shrine there is a huge Torii.
look at trees its so small!
This is the best part of Heian Shrine.

To be continued...
